What is Foundayo?

Foundayo is the brand name for orforglipron, a nonpeptide GLP-1 receptor agonist tablet approved in 2026. It is used with reduced-calorie nutrition and increased physical activity in adults with obesity or overweight plus at least one weight-related condition.

The labeled starting dose is 0.8 mg daily, followed after at least 30 days by 2.5 mg and then 5.5 mg. Further increases to 9, 14.5 or 17.2 mg depend on response and tolerability. Tablets are swallowed whole and may be taken with or without food.

Results and safety

In the 72-week approval trial without diabetes, mean loss ranged from 7.4% with 5.5 mg to 11.1% with 17.2 mg, versus 2.1% with placebo. Outcomes were lower in the trial with type 2 diabetes. These are averages, not guarantees.

Common effects include nausea, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, indigestion, abdominal symptoms, headache and fatigue. Label precautions include pancreatitis, severe GI reactions, dehydration-related kidney injury, hypoglycemia, retinopathy in diabetes, gallbladder disease and aspiration risk. It carries an MTC/MEN 2 contraindication and should not be combined with another GLP-1 agonist.

Who may prefer Foundayo?

It may appeal to an eligible adult who strongly prefers a tablet, can adhere daily and has suitable coverage and no contraindication. It is not automatically more effective, safer or less expensive than Wegovy, Zepbound or traditional oral medicines.

Important: Prescription treatment requires an individualized evaluation. Eligibility, product, formulation, dose, pharmacy availability, FDA status, insurance coverage and total cost vary. Weight-loss medicines should not be used during pregnancy. Do not start, stop, combine or change a medicine without the prescribing clinician.
